I bought this to replace a very old stool. The newer version of the old metal ones were very unstable. This mahogany one, though, was very sturdy and pretty as well.

The absurd number of warning stickers plastered all over this stool really detract from its otherwise handsome appearance. Don't step here! Really, Don't step here! We mean it bud, this is not a step! OK OK I get it - And some are not even placed evenly! It takes a couple of hours to peel the largest of them off....too bad. This step stool looks good and is very handy for reaching tall cabinets (like over the refrigerator). But unless you can store it near the place you would use it, you might find it too heavy to easily move from place to place.
The step stool is very stable and the top rail provides extra security that I appreciate.
The workmanship is not top quality but I was able to touch up the joints to make them less noticeable. The lever for folding the step stool is a bit difficult to work.

I have two high bookcases, and did not like the step ladder I used to access the top shelves. I was please to find a good looking 3-step stool, but when I received it, it was damaged. Amazon kindly replaced it quickly. (This package was damaged, and the side rails were not padded.) I use it nearly every day for more than the bookcase access because it doesn't take up much space and is easy to collapse. It is well-reinforced with metal rods, and is sturdy. I purchase this for my walkin closet. We just had custom wood cabinets, made and installed in our master bedroom closet. They go up 9 feet, so in order to access the higher items we wanted something a little nicer than a metal step stool. This is very sturdy yet very attractive way to go. We have this in place and have used for about 2 months.
