First, note that the ladder must be completely and fully extended before it can be used. You extend the top rung up first, it clicks into place then you extend the next rung, it clicks into place, but until the last rung clicks into place the entire thing will telescope back down at near free-fall speeds. That means the whole 12.5 feet extended for each and every use, regardless of confines of the space in use or the actual height you need to reach.



Second, closing the ladder and de-telescoping the steps is dangerous. I read all the instructions. I watched the videos on the manufacturer's site. I'm a handy guy. And this thing telescoped down and took two chunks out of my hand, even though I was expecting it. Could I do a better job with practice? Of course, but it shouldn't be as dangerous as it is for first-time users.



Third, my ladder arrived banged up, dented, and obviously repackaged, meaning someone else had already returned it and then Amazon sent it to me. Watch out, because I returned it, too, so you might get mine...sorry about the blood.

I opted to purchase a six foot aluminum ladder rated for 300 pounds that was priced only $5 more than one rated for 250 pounds. It was shipped from Ron's Hardware and when it arrived, I noticed that it was the wrong brand and only rated for 225 pounds. Since I weigh 250 pounds, I called Ron's Hardware and explained the problem. Ron's rep. on the phone was very cordial and helpful. She asked me to send an email, explaining the problem and someone would contact me within 2 days. I sent the email and was contacted the next day and told that the brand I ordered had been discontinued but they would send another brand, rated for 300 pounds and I could keep the first ladder as well.Who could ask for more cooperation or better service than that?

This is the 3rd telescoping ladder I have owned and by far my least favorite. The wide-step is nice but hardly makes up for the amount of movement in the ladder itself. When extended this ladder moves and flexes and moves from side to side. I weigh 140lbs. and find it very uncomfortable. I intend to sell this and have already bought myself the 15.5' Extend and Climb which is a far superior product... I will write a review about it.

I WOULD NOT USE WHEN I STOPPED USING MINE, I RECYCLED IT I DID NOT WANT THIS BACK OUT TO SOME ONE THAT MIGHT NOT KNOW HOW TO USE THE PRODUCT SAFELY. THE LADDER IS JUST RIGHT FOR A ONE STORY ROOF, BUT IT JUST IS NOT A SAFE AS MY LITTLE GIANT AND ABOUT DOUBLE THE WEIGHT. I DID NOT FEEL SAFE ON THIS LADDER. AND I AM WELL UNDER THE WEIGHT MAX. IT SHOULD BE RATED FOR NO MORE THEN 200 LBS.

The first time I tried to use the ladder one of the rubber feet came off. It is apparently only held on with a single machine screw and nut. The foot won't on. When I can figure out to get it done I plan to add a washer so the thing doesn't slip over the nut.

This platform is very sturdy and works with my Gorilla Ladder. The only caveat is that when I extend my ladder there are various combinations of steps with one or two rungs to step on. When the front lip of the platform is on a step with two rungs it can be tricky to get the lip between the two rungs in order for the platform to be level. Having a helper to position the lip of the platform, while you stand above the platform, is one solution.

I bought this ladder to replace and old light duty 20ft extension ladder that i had in the garage that just wasnt long enough or strong enough.I read all the reviews on this ladder before i bought it and all i kept hearing is "this ladder is too heavy" or "it a pain to lug around".Well the people are right it is heavy and it is a pain to lug around however if someone wanted a light ladder they should have bought a lighter duty one.Little Giant says its a HEAVY duty muti-ladder hence its "Heavy"!DUH!So people quit complaining.If you didnt want a heavy duty ladder then you should have bought one of those generic 200-250lb capacity ladders.



I specifically read a few reviews about a few FAT guys like myself that have been using this ladder with no problems so that sold me right there.I personally am pushing the 300lb mark.The ladder is very strong and i wasnt ever scared going up it.It always seemed to be very sturdy even when it wasnt on a completely level surface.There are a couple of down falls on this ladder.Using this ladder as an extension ladder is a pain in the butt!!Extending this ladder and putting it up is a chore from the weight so you better "PACK A LUNCH" or have a friend help you.I seen the video of Little Giant demonstrating how to extend the 26' ladder on your own and i followed the steps just as they showed but i had to bust my butt to do it and i got hit in the head a few times trying it.I swear the guy in the video made it look effortless!I swear there had to be a guy hidden above the ladder out of reach of the camera helping him extend it.I didnt even extend mine completely and i still had problems and im not what you call a whimpy little guy either.Little Giant needs to make some type of pulley system for this ladder to extend it.



Using the Little Giant as an A-frame ladder is pretty nice.Its easy to extend and setup.Its nice to be able to walk up either side of the ladder and i was able to switch sides on the ladder when i was at the very top without having to go back down the ladder.Heck i wasnt even on a level surface.One of the legs wasnt even touching the ground because i was too lazy to extend the leg leveler i had on this ladder.Even with this ladder wobbling around on 3 feet i still felt very safe.



Conclusion-- The Little Giant 26' ladder is definitely a strong ladder and well made.Great for the larger guys!!If you'll be using it as an extension ladder most of the time,i really suggest go buying a regular extension ladder if you have the room to store it.Like i said "Little Giant needs to invent some type of pulley system to extend the ladder"!Using it as an a-frame ladder is a pleasure though.The plus with this ladder is its small compact store area under 7ft tall,and folding it up,it will stand upright on its own.There are trade offs with this ladder.Weight vs its compact size.It weighs a ton but it is compact,very strong,and well made.I only give it 4 stars because of how much work it is to use it as an extension ladder.The shorter versions of the Little Giant probably dont have as much extension problems because of the weight issues as the larger version has and im sure they are a little easier to carry around too.

I purchased this ladder to use along with an identical ladder that I borrowed from my brother. I used the two ladders to make a large scaffold (plank 8 feet off the ground and 16 feet long). The ladder performed wonderfully. I have used for other jobs on uneven sufaces and very high jobs. The ladder works great and is worth every penny. It is heavy as others have mentioned but you have to expect that for a ladder of this size and strength.

 "too heavy? compared to what?" 2010-02-06

Not sure what's to complain about the weight. This ladder is is 38lbs, the little giant 1A is 42lbs and the werner is 43lbs. I'm comparing all 22ft ladders here.



The wide flared legs gives plenty of support. I really like their "double-pin locking steel hinge". It makes opening and closing the hinge very simple, easy and predictable. I haven't had any issues pinching yet. Definitely better then the cheaper generic models out there.



To sum things up, a nice and strong, flexible ladder that's not too heavy and well under 1/2 the price of a little giant? we've got ourselves a winner here. Don't forget it's also got the lifetime warranty. Not much to say here folks. The product and price speaks for itself.

This ladder is great. Works nicely and is stable. I am glad I saved some money and did not get the Little Giant. It is not 5 stars because it is heavy (but so are the other brands), and you can pinch your fingers if you are not paying attention when you are adjusting it. Also when buying this ladder I went a little bigger then I needed. I am glad I did that because you have much more balance and have more rungs above you, rather then being close to the top of the ladder and feeling like you are going to fall. Something you might want to consider when choosing your size..... I would recommend this ladder to a friend.
