When we moved into our new home with many high shelves (we are short), my wife bought 2 more of these so one would never be far away. They are Rubbermaid, so you know they are quality. The gray color is nice - they won't show the dirt.



The step stools are light but sturdy, and when folder up they stand up on their own, a great feature.



We could not find these at any of the local stores, and are happy Amazon offers so many items.

I purchased the Xtend & Climb FW-71 for my photography business about two months ago. It is an excellent idea for carting cameras and equipment into a wedding or photo event locations. After getting the gear in, then it comes in handy as a step ladder to get some elevation and angle on your subject. It is great for working on a backdrop, covering a window, adjust a hairlight, or anything a 4 foot ladder is used for.



Pros:

1. Closed up it is only about three inches thick. The wheels fold up to make it thinner.



2. It is fairly heavy duty and I believe can handle a little over 100 pounds.



3. The steps are large and the rounded top handle gives some stability to the person on the ladder. I weigh 200 pounds and feel very secure on the ladder up to the second step where my thighs can press against the handle.



Cons:

1. Fairly heavy but probably as light as it could be unless going to a high-cost composite.



2. When pulling a load up a step(s)the wheels will often collapse. The is a major defect in design that I have got to figure a work-around for. The reason is when you normally fold the wheels you have pull down on the wheel and turn it to fold. When pulling a load up a step, this creates the same action and the wheel will often fold. There should be a way to lock it in place and then release for folding. I am going to work on this defect so it can work for me. It is tough to get the wheel back out when you have eighty pounds of gear on it.



So far, worth the purchase cost.

Do NOT buy this product. I was looking for the Cosco phone number to report this injury when I spotted Amazon. I am a 51-year-old RN who thought this would be a handy step-stool. I bought it at Wal-Mart, brought it home, unwrapped it, & tried to open the legs, in order to show my husband my handy new stool. I felt a pinch on my finger & started doing a wrist-snap to decrease the pain. Soon I had blood all over the kitchen! The cut was ~ 1/16" deep x 5/8" long. Finger cuts bleed a lot, which accounted for the mess. I am an adult who knows better: don't get this item for a child! My husband was pinched, but not cut, when he tried to open the stool. This is a dangerous product. AVOID!

I'm disabled and, at 73, have a justifiable fear of falling. This is lightweight, essential for me to carry it, and is stable enough I'm not afraid to use it for, say, changing a lightbulb. It would never have satisfied me in earlier years, but I've spent enough time in hospitals for a while. There are times my step stool just doesn't satisfy, and I have no idea where my son put my bigger ladder--probably couldn't handle it now anyway. BTW, don't want to make others my age feel I am denigrating abilities of aging. But I'm on oxygen, have had osteoporosis breaks but like living on my own.

I've been in need of a new step ladder for some time but I can't decide what model or size. My old one of 30-some years is wooden and is getting rickety and splintery and covered with paint stains. Then recently, I was strolling through my local Costco Warehouse store and found a display of these little 5-foot ladders. It wasn't what I wanted, but it certainly looked like a handy thing to have around the house. Another impulse item gets added to the shopping cart.



This Cosco latter has proved to be quite handy. It's very light and easy to handle, yet it's sturdy and stable. It has rubber footpads so my new floors won't be damaged. It has a convenient top shelf which will hold paint cans, tools, etc. A feature that I really like is that the third step is a sturdy platform that both holds the ladder together but also can serve as a standing platform. This platform is more stable than standing on the third step of a conventional step ladder. I find that I can stand and work easily and the ladder remains completely stable. (For safety, I usually hold onto something with one hand.) In our house, that allows me to work on the highest objects without many problems. I'm probably still going to get a full-sized step ladder, but this little 5-footer is a real convenient and nicely designed piece of equipment to have around the house. I'm delighted with it!

We have the seven step, it is a joy to use. first, it's really incredibly light - not a problem or a pain at all to pull out.



Second, it's uncreaky and unfolds very easily by itself, no fussing necessary.



Also, it feels very secure when I climb on it, even when I'm on the top step.



If the seven step feels good, the five step should feel even better.



Don't buy the Home Depot cheapo version. You can buy the five or seven step at the Container Store. Shell out the extra $20, you are going to keep this one for years.

The grip heavy duty ladder is exactly what we needed and we get to high places easily without strain, and we can stand on the wide stair indefinitely without feeling hurried because it's wobbley and doesn't feel safe. But I really loved the care this seller had when the first ladder arrived bent at the bottom. He sent me a new one, and I sent him pictures of the damage.
