I find a 5 ft deep window well to be challenging to climb out of. I priced making my own ladder from 1/2" pipe...but parts without shipping was close to $100. Decided to try this model out. It works well. My window well is galvanized with 5 inch black rubber piece on top of corrogated galvanized wall. I could not just hang the ladder from the top with no bolts....because ladder load bends the black rubber piece over. I drilled and bolted my ladder to the galvanized wall using 5/16" lag bolts. The ladder takes 6 bolts and comes with six 1/2" diameter holes pre-drilled. Took about 1 hour to install. Now time to order the 2nd ladder for my 2nd egress window to complete the house.

Ordered my escape ladder and had it in my house within 4 days. The ladder came with all the necessary hardware and was unbelievably easy to install. Unlike other ladders that you have to bolt together this ladder is already welded together in one strong piece. Just place the hooks over the top of your window well. If you want you can further secure the ladder to the well by screwing the bottom portion of the ladder to the well. After installing the ladder my family did a practice "emergency drill" and both my three year old son and two year old daughter were able to easily exit the window well up the sturdy ladder. Great product - Thank you.

Just installed this ladder. Very good quality ladder. The product demonstration videos are accurate and should speed up an escape dramatically along with it being safer than the regular chain ladders hooked over the window.



However, the installation manual is inaccurate. It states that the space between the studs is required to be between 14" and 14 1/2" wide in order to fit the ladder box. However, the metal ladder box is 14 1/4" wide and won't fit in a space any smaller. My space was exactly 14" wide - I had to cut off the side of the box in order to fit.



Make sure you are accurate with your measurements before buying.
