I've had this ladder for about a year and have used it a handful of times. I am very pleased with it because it seems sturdy and well constructed, and I always feel safe on the ladder. It did end up being much longer than I needed because I just guessed, so I would recommend actually figuring out what size ladder you need because this one is kind of hard to maneuver since it is so large. It does slide together in a manageable length for storage though (I have a standard depth garage and it fits fine hanging on ladder racks on the wall). Delivery was easy too!

Never saw the ladder and Amazon is horrible to deal with returns. I had to refuse the credit card charge because there is no way short of a written letter (which I sent and never got a response) that the item was returned. Try to find some place on the Amazon web site to call anyone or to email about a returned item. GOOD LUCK.

The Werner 28 footer is my workhorse ladder around the house and yard. Had it for years, still in great shape (although it has been through thick and thin with me). I'd buy it again in a heartbeat. I'll be adding leveler feet soon to better accommodate my yard's slopes. Weight is ok, very stable even at full extension - and 28 ft is quite some height...

This is simply an aluminum ladder but it has some great features that set it apart from other ladders of this type that I have owned. First it is extremely light for its 28' length, which makes it easy to handle and manoeuver around. The rungs are very wide and have a machined surface for a sure grip. Standing for long periods is comfortable on the feet and legs.

Erection is easy with the rope center pull or you can simply push the lower rung and allow the self locking plates on either side of the ladder to lock as they pass each rung. Once locked in place the rungs are secure and the ladder feels solid with only minor movement at the longer extension. Lowering the ladder is equally easy. This is overall a very nice ladder that delivers a firm, safe operating height.

D1240-2 40' was delivered on the 6th business day of order from Noble Direct. The green tip ends were packaged tight and the ladder is in great, new condition. It's not everyday I need to climb close to 40 feet, but I feel safe with this Werner. It's length and weight make it a challenge to extend to needed heights, but with the help of just one other person, a job can be done with uninjured satisfaction.

I have already used my new ladder repeatedly and find it quite satisfactory. It can be a little wobbly when fully extended and I am half way up, but that is the tradeoff on purchasing a "Medium Duty, Type II" ladder that weighs less than 27 lbs (shipping weight). If you are on the big side, and I am not, then I would suggest buying a heavier duty model. The raising and lowering mechanism works very well and is easy to use. What I find hard to understand is why the manufacturer has neglected to put a crimp ring or a strip of shrink tubing around the lose end of the raising/lowering rope which should not cost them more than $0.25, installed. The rope on mine started unravelling almost right away.

As far as the ladder itself, I wish I had this thing 30 years ago when I built the house. Haven't used it a lot yet but very sturdy and the adjustable extensions are just what we need here. Add the stabilizer and it's a GREAT tool.

The reasons for only 4 stars: 1) as with other reviewers ... the ladder got roughed up on the trip. I suppose these things get tossed in and out of several trucks along the way and it shows. I didn't end up with damaged rungs but I think if some scrap cardboard was wrapped around the ladder in 2 or 3 places it would arrive in much better shape. 2) as mentioned by other reviewers ... this puppy is not a flyweight. I'm a fairly big boy but getting some miles on me (60) and it's very challenging to move this thing around on the steep & uneven hillside that our house is sited on. The site is the reason for purchasing this type of ladder ... but you may find it difficult to move by yourself. Summary: great ladder but it may arrived scraped up or worse ... and it's pretty heavy for one person to move.

First of all, you'll likely have to WAIT to get this ladder...shipping seemed to take forever. However, the product is first-rate, and works as advertised. The ability to use this on uneven surfaces is a real plus, and the 24 foot extension allowed me to "scale new heights", reaching places on my HUGE home that I never thought I'd see. One important drawback...this is a HEAVY ladder. Despite its being made of aluminum, I was a bit surprised at its heft. I would NOT recommend for the ladies or for seniors. Heck, even for a marginally "strong" guy like myself, this is a challenge to carry around. Still, a great ladder, all in all.

I needed a light-weight extension ladder that I could safely use on sloping ground so that I could paint my house. I had a heavy fiber-glass ladder, but it was awkward to handle and tricky and probably unsafe to place wood blocks under one leg. So I bought a 24 foot aluminum ladder from Amazon that was easy and light-weight and has the most safe means to extend either of the legs. The leg extension is not some clamp on device, but instead it is permantly built into each leg using a pin to select the length needed to compensate for the sloping ground. It is the Werner D17242EQ Equalizer 225-Pound Duty Rating Aluminum Extension Ladder with Integrated Leveling System, 24-Foot. I would definately recommend this ladder if you want a easy to handle and safe ladder.

I think i got the broken Werner D1716-2EQ that Timothy got. The ladder is a great concept, one that I thought of years ago, but as Tim said, it arrived at my house unwrapped with a very bent lower rung and a couple of dents in other rungs. I was not a happy camper, now I must wait for UPS to pick it up and for my money to be returned. Hopefully I will not have to wait 2 weeks for the refund process to be completed.

This ladder is too lightweight to be so tall. It is unstable and the piece of metal that forms the locking cross piece is too high to provide support. Mine bent and collapsed with far less than 200 lbs on i!

I own two of these green fiberglass ladders, and use them regularly on the job. They are good ladders. The difference between these and the blue version are the yellow plastic braces at the bottoms. The blue ladder has aluminum braces.

I would own the yellow or orange, but they are expensive (I really do need them though).

I have been using these types of ladders for 30 years now and have never had a problem with them. As the other reviewer points out they tip over easier? That is only if you are on uneven ground or lean over too far-this is the case for all ladders. Osha job sites do require fiberglass ladders and that is the only time I use them, I am a painter and need a tray to hold my paint and other tools, if you abuse anything you can break it. I have seen 300 lb people on 200 lb rated ladders without a problem.

This was a great buy, but is only really a household step stool. Don't get this thinking you're getting an actual ladder. I like what it does in its limited capacity, but thought I was getting something something much sturdier and more versatile. I weight 180 pounds and am not really comfortable with standing on this product. But, in all fairness, it is what it says it is - I just expected more.
