 "Great Purchase!" 2009-10-02
By Tammy Wagnon (Crestline, Ca)
This is my 2nd Werner Ladder and they are quality! I bought this one because I have moved and needed a taller one to reach the cob webs! I looked all over the internet and this was such a great deal with the other companies charging so much for shipping.....I jumped on this one! Home Depot and Lowes did not carry this ladder in their stores and ordering through them...would have added a bunch in shipping costs! I am very happy!

"More stable than Type 1A ladders" 2008-08-17
By Victor H. Agresti (Gaithersburg, MD United States)
Werner 12-Foot 375-Pound Duty Rating Fiberglass Stepladder #7312

We have a room with a 14' cathedral ceiling, and needed a 12' stepladder to reach the ceiling's peak. I had experience with a Werner model 6312 type 1A (300 lb. rated) stepladder and found it to be wobbly. I weigh 270 lbs. The 7312 type 1AA (375 lb. rated), costs more, but is more stable. No 12' stepladder is going to be "rock-solid", as it would be so heavy, no one would buy it. The 7312 weighs 50 pounds, which makes it practical for an average sized adult to carry and set up. Once opened, when it needs moving, I get directly under it, grab a step on one side and a brace on the other side, and lift the whole thing to move around.

The 7312 is only 3 pounds more than Werner's 300 lb. rated 12' stepladders, so its stability is due to additional bracing, rather than heavier components. The 7312 also has a thick aluminum top cap rather that the plastic top that comes on the cheaper ladders. The top cap has various holes and indentations to hold tools and small parts while you're working. See customer images.

Fiberglass stepladders are the safe choice if you will EVER work around electricity, such as installing an electrical box or lamp.

Other than price, the big negative with any 12' stepladder is finding a place to store it. You wouldn't want to leave it outside where it would get dirty; and if it's in the rain, the steel spreader mechanism will eventually rust.

If you can afford the higher cost (over a type 1A ladder), the excellent stability of the 7312 type 1AA will make you soon forget how much you paid.

Very sturdy and useful ladder. A bit heavy, but still within the limits a woman can move and use alone.

 "Sturdy and Practical" 2006-01-23
By prussianette (IL, United States)
When the bid came in at close to $1000 to stain the interior of my three season room, I decided that I could do it myself with the help of this ladder and the cost of materials. Glad I made this purchase. Found more than one use for it as I have nine foot ceilings on my first floor. One warning--you do have to carefully pre-plan on how you will move throughout the house so you don't damage anything. I am now thinking about purchasing the Werner six foot ladder to replace my current somewhat flimsy one. Once you experience how safe you feel on a sturdy ladder, it is difficult to use one less secure.

 "Solid, dependable" 2005-12-26
By M. J. Walters (Chicago, IL USA)
I confess I'm no lightweight, and the prospect of getting up on a flimsy household stepladder with a load of whatever in my arms was a little daunting. So when I went to look for a new one (The old one finally fell apart after years of heavy use, twisting sideways on an uneven floor as I reached up to hang a drapery rod, and then collapsing entirely.) I looked for the highest rated step-ladder I could find. And I found an amazingly sturdy, stable ladder in the Werner. I don't worry for a moment about standing on it, holding any sort of extra weight. I know that it will stay put and support me and whatever I'm holding.

Unfortunately it does have one drawback. The steps are so high that getting up to the second one without some sort of external support is very difficult. With two bad knees, it's just about impossible. Once you're up, no problem, but getting there is a major pain and I'm often reduced to using a kitchen chair as an intermediate step. I could wish there had been one extra step, or a grab bar at the top. But apart from this, I think the Werner is a superior product for the money.

I have two extension ladders, and I attached this stabilizer without a problem to my first ladder. However, the second ladder has thicker steps and rails which made installation very difficult -- I had to bend a few of the U bolts. Once installed, the stabilizer pretty much works as expected.

 "Buy at least two" 2010-04-24
By Northshore McLeod (Ephrata, WA)
I have built numerous houses by myself with two of these units.

You can stand up walls with headers and sheathing in place.

Just make sure your 2x4's have minimal knots and are long enough to get the job done.

Since I do this by myself, I always build a positive stop so that the wall won't continue right on over the edge, as it would be impossible for me to get down off of my step ladder and run over to stop the motion of the wall as it moves the last few feet on it's own. One guy couldn't stop a large wall anyhow.

For safety's sake I always make sure that I don't get too far under the wall as it is standing up and make sure that your wall jack 2x4's are situated on top of a floor joist or other material that can handle the extreme weight. Don't rely on the subfloor plywood itself. Also, I make a habit of attaching metal banding to bottom plate of wall to be stood up to help prevent "kickout" of the hinge while standing wall.

Common sense and a little ingenuity can save you a tidy sum of dough, but please be safe. Even a small wall is VERY heavy and will crush you.

"The only way to lift a wall" 2008-11-12
By T. G. Hull (Bothell, WA)
I have a pair of these and have used them alone and with another worker to lift walls from 8 ft. to 24 ft. in height, and up to 40 feet long. I have even built walls with T-111 siding and windows installed before lifting them, and it was no problem for these. The most important item though is to select the best quality 2x4 as the 'pole' so as not risk it breaking mid-lift and getting someone injured. This has saved my back many times and is worth every penny spent!

"Qual-Craft Wall Jacks get the job done" 2008-03-02
By J. Price (Woodstock, CT)
This item was a great alternative to the much more expensive metal pole type wall jacks. I just used the Qual-Craft jacks to raise a 32X9 foot sheathed wall. It went up with ease. Two clear Douglas fir 2X4 were special ordered from my local lumber yard as they were not in stock. I quickly cut two heel boards to prevent the 2X4 poles from sliding backwards as the wall was raised. Ladders were required to pump the last few feet of wall as my seperately purchased 3/4" X 3' pipe handles were not long enough to enable the us to remain on the deck while completely raising the wall. A rope was tied to hole drilled in the top plate of the wall and used to keep the wall from going over too far. The product worked well and was much less expensive than other Wall jack sysems.

 "Nice Wall Jack" 2007-12-17
By Don Toy (Eastern Iowa)
This is a nice wall jack set up, It works great for lifting a wall, I did a 55 foot 9 foot high wall by myself with this, in windy and wet conditions, the only thing I would watch out for is that once you are going up be ready to go up, coming back down with the wall in near impossible, and could be quite dangerous.

 "Great Ladder" 2010-07-07
By Michael Tapps
Love this ladder, I can get rid of my heavy extension ladder now. This ladder is the only one I need. I used it to paint the house inside an out. You can make a scaffold with it if you have a 2x6 board. You just run the board across the two separate stepladder sections. The ladder easily flipped up to allow me to reach the trim on my house.

Louisville Ladder L-2094-17 Type IA 300-Pound Rated Aluminum Multipurpose Ladder, 17-FootWHEN I ORDERED A LADDER THAT SAID IT WAS 13 FEET, I BELIEVED IT WAS JUST AS IT HAD BEEN ADVERTISED "A STEP LADDER 13'

WHAT WE GOT IN MY OPINION IS NOTHING MORE THAT A 6' "STEP LADDER." WE ALREADY HAD A 6 FOOTER. WHEN SHOWN IN THE

SKETCHES, IT LOOKED MUCH TALLER THAN THE OTHER LADDERS. WE TRUELY BELIEVED IT WAS WHAT IT WAS AS SEEN IN THE PICTURE - A 13 FT. STEP LADDER

IN EVERY INDEPENDENT SEARCH WE DID FOR 8 - 14 FT. STEP LADDERS, THIS ONE KEPT COMING UP. I WISH I HAD DONE MORE RESEARCH. IT COST US OVER

A HUNDRED DOLLARS JUST FOR THE SHIPPING AND WE COULD NOT AFFORD TO SEND IT BACK. IT IS IN OUR GARAGE AND HAS NEVER BEEN USED. SOME

CATCH!

 "Only Ladder I Need." 2008-01-24
By Nic Park (Boston, MA)
I recently painted my living room. We have 10' ceilings and I setup this ladder as a scaffold placed a 1"x12" board on top and walked along as I "Cut-in" the top edge. This was much faster than moving the step ladders every 3 feet. I am 6'6" tall and 240lbs and the ladder was very solid.

I then extended the ladder to "Cut-in" the ceiling over the stairway.

This is the "Only Ladder I Need".
